MedPrep is a unique, interactive lecture series that has 4 objectives: (1) To give students accurate, honest, and detailed information on how to become the most competitive and prepared applicant to medical school possible. (2) To clarify the entire educational process required to become a board-certified physician and the lifestyle one can expect in medical school, residency and beyond. (3) To prepare students for the expectations and attitude that will be required of a successful medical student and future physician. MCB 199 is an introductory seminar course focused on molecular and cellular neuroscience literature. Students will engage deeply with scientific content through journal club-style presentations and discussion, and written reflections on the literature and their perceptions of it. The topic of media portrayal of science will be explored though analysis of sample media. The purpose of this course is to provide students in the neuroscience major with exposure to current literature in the field of molecular and cellular neuroscience. A focus will be placed on building skills appropriate for students who wish to pursue graduate studies and professional medical programs.
