Topic: Large Scale Public Mosaic made with recycled materials. Over the duration of the semester, the students enrolled in this course will design, strategize and install a large scale recycled material mosaic on the back wall of the ceramics lab. We will research and discuss regional issues surrounding our geology, land history, climate, soil and water quality before brainstorming design ideas that reflect our legacy as students at UIUC in the current era. The large scale (10 ft by 9 ft) mosaic will hopefully be completed using 100% found and recycled materials. Art and Design minors who wish to take this class should contact the A+D minor advisor Michael Foellmer (foellme1@illinois.edu).
