Section Info:
The Land Use Planning Workshop provides students with an immersive studio experience that applies advanced land use and urban design principles and skills to specific challenges in local jurisdictions. Building on the mapping and analysis skills learned in the Junior Planning Workshop, students will prepare professional quality plans for Park Ridge, Illinois. Students will explore and incorporate elements of legible city form, walkability, incrementalism, new (and old) urbanism, placemaking, activity generation, and missing middle housing into small area plans for various business districts and neighborhood centers within the community. Students will utilize ArcGIS, the Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp to prepare professional-quality plans and visualizations for future development. Special emphasis will be placed on learning and utilizing 3D visualization techniques throughout student work.  
Restriction(s):
Not intended for students with Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior class standing. Restricted to BA:Urban Stud & Planning -UIUC or BA:BA USP/MUP UP -UIUC.
