Karasek, M	Part of Term: B Date Range: 10/20/25-12/10/25 Credit: 1 hours Section Title: Foundations of Innovation Section Info: This section of Foundations of Innovation and Entrepreneurship has the same content as the FIE section, but is condensed into 8 weeks and starts during the second half of the semester (part of term B). Foundations of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is an online asynchronous course designed to make entrepreneurship education accessible to all. Why is this important? Companies must grow to survive over the long term and innovation is the lifeblood of that growth. But innovation is arguably the most difficult thing an organization can try to do. Foundations of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is ideal for undergraduate students who want to begin building a foundation for understanding what drives innovation in existing enterprises and startups. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: 1. Recognize the differences among innovation, creativity, and invention, 2. Explain how innovation is used in corporations to create value, and how innovation is different in a start-up versus an established enterprise, 3. Explain why innovation and entrepreneurship are important to the economic health of the country, 4. Explain how to identify and evaluate customer problems worth solving, and 5. Explain the key steps and tools of customer discovery. Engineering students interested in the ILEE Dual Degree should take TE 100. This section does not offer S/U grading.
