The purpose of this course is to explore the physical, social, psychological, and emotional factors influencing participation in physical activity and adapted sport among persons living with disabilities. This course will examine a) the historical context of disability sport including the structure and major organizations within competitive and recreational sports; b) current research and trends in disability sports; c) role of classification systems in adapted sport; and d) training techniques, equipment selection, and adaptations required for performance optimization across different adapted sports.
