Health Communication in Relationships

Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.

Explores health communication between people in close relationships and patient-provider relationships over the course of an illness. Topics include identity, sharing health information, stigma, social support, caregiving, and patient-centered communication. Useful for students seeking to improve their own health communication, going into a medical field, wanting research experience, and seeking deeper understanding of communication theories and their applications.
