Arctic Meteorology
Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.
The Arctic is of considerable interest in recent years due to its rapid warming and the associated changes in its cryosphere, which have profound impacts on the environment, ecosystems, and human lives. Topics include the fundamental physical, dynamical and synoptic processes that govern the unique weather and climate in the Arctic, the interactions between the Arctic and the rest of the global climate system, paleoclimate, and the future projection of the Arctic climate.
3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: ATMS 301, ATMS 302, and ATMS 305 for undergraduate students; or graduate standing.
