Section Info:
This graduate methods course explores theoretical and practical aspects of discourse transcription as a method of data representation and analysis. The course focuses on approaches developed in linguistic anthropology and linguistics but also explores approaches in related fields including communication, media studies, and sociology. Students will learn how disciplinary questions inform transcription choices and will learn how to use digital transcription tools by transcribing their own language data.
