Applied Data Solutions in the Health Sciences- This course will allow students to learn more in-depth about the life cycle of research. From the collection of data through the final research presentation in the course, there will be many opportunities to learn about new software and applications that can be used to bolster their skill sets. The applied nature of the course exposes students to data sets, using and applying data in research, use of excel and pivot tables as well as ways of presenting data findings.

Students will learn practical strategies for a successful transition into university life, focusing specifically on social and cultural belonging in campus communities. Through weekly 50-minute in-person sessions complemented by flexible online coursework, students will develop personalized goals, build resilience and wellness strategies, navigate campus culture, and foster strong peer and community connections. By the end of this course, students will be equipped with a clearer sense of direction, enhanced self-awareness, and tools for a successful transition to higher education and beyond. This second-year experience course is tailored specifically for veterans or military reservists interested in community service and civic engagement as a pathway toward a meaningful transition to civilian and campus life. Students will explore opportunities for civic involvement and volunteerism, developing practical strategies to leverage their military experiences and dedication toward building stronger community relationships. Through weekly 50-minute in-person sessions complemented by flexible online activities, participants will identify local community needs, engage in meaningful service projects, and learn how civic participation can enhance personal growth, resilience, and a sense of purpose. By the end of this course, students will have strengthened connections with peers, developed impactful civic and leadership skills, enhanced community awareness, and established a renewed mission grounded in service-oriented values and civic responsibility. The objective of this course is to introduce military-connected students to the subject of career development and to provide opportunities that enable them to land a career and succeed in the workplace. This course provides an overview of the civilian and federal job search process, resources for creating effective resumes and cover letters, interview preparation, job negotiations, professional networking and knowledge of various industries and organizations. Additionally, employee rights and benefits to include retirement programs will be discussed in detail, as well as tips for business-related functions, workplace challenges and situations, increasing your salary, and the importance of finding a mentor(s) early in your academic career.
