Children's Literature for Early Childhood Education
Credit: 3 hours.
Examines literature written for children ages birth-eight years; includes extensive reading and analysis of literature in all genres and formats and evaluation of literature in relation to cognitive and linguistic development, emergent literacy, linguistic and cultural diversity, and family and school literacy; reviews and applies theories about the functions and applications of literature.
3 undergraduate hours. 3 graduate hours. Prerequisite: One college course in literature; admission to the Early Childhood Teacher Education Program or the Early Childhood Professional Education concentration.
