TOPIC: What is Conscience? In this seminar, we will examine the nature of conscience and its normative authority. We will commence by discussing some historical views of conscience--primarily those of Kant, Smith, Nietzsche, and Freud--before moving on to contemporary debates. Among other things, we will discuss conscientious objection in medicine.
