This seminar-style class covers classical reception studies and medievalism studies, two subdisciplines that investigate how ancient and medieval material has been adapted, subverted, and transformed by people later in time. Students will learn key receptions methodologies, discover how different genres of premodern material have been treated by receptions scholars, and develop their own receptions projects.
