Credit: 3 hours.
This course surveys world cinema from the 1940s to the present day. We consider the history of film from stylistic, cultural, institutional, and technological perspectives in lectures, discussions, and screenings of a diverse selection of classic films. Students gain a foundation in cinematic history and form, preparing them for advanced cinema studies courses.
