Basics of Data Journalism
Section Info:
Data analysis and visualization have become integral parts of journalism. This class will introduce you to the basics of data journalism, including finding and downloading data and using spreadsheets and database manager software for news stories. Students will work with local and national data and learn how to combine their data analysis with interviews and field work to produce meaningful stories. Non-degree seeking students may enroll on a space-available basis with consent of the department. To request enrollment, please email journ@illinois.edu.
