Emergency Preparedness, Planning, and Response

Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.

Introduces the field of emergency preparedness and the disaster management paradigm (mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery). Students learn about different types of threats to public health, including natural disasters, infectious diseases, and human-caused hazards and threats. Students will learn how to apply the "preparation cycle" to assess risks and prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
