Course Name: Let’s Talk About Food, Agriculture, and the Environment Description: In this course, students evaluate and create discourse about food, agriculture, and the environment. The course emphasizes the foundations of public speaking, and students will conclude the class with a robust knowledge of organizing, researching, crafting, and presenting material. The course is broken down into three units: food, agriculture and the environment. Each unit will explore topic-specific issues, stakeholders, and strategies that are essential for creating effective communications. During each unit, students will explore case studies and watch examples of speeches and other media that discuss the topics of food, ag, and the environment. Each unit concludes with a speech where students apply the skills developed in that unit. Overall, this class teaches foundational communications concepts within the context of the College of ACES.
