In this course, the primary focus will be on the 2024 U.S. Presidential, House, and Senate elections. The course will exam relevant aspects of the Constitution and electoral law, the candidates and their campaigns, and citizens as voters. The class will examine both historical materials and day-to-day developments in the elections. Students who previously received credit for PS 199: Elections 2024 or Elections 2022, may not receive credit for this class.

Peace Ed & Conflict Res
Section Info:
Lecturer: Mohammad Darawshe. This course is an introduction to the main theory and practice of peace education and conflict resolution using the practical example of Jewish-Arab relations in Israel. It will provide theoretical knowledge and a comprehensive view of the Palestinian – Israeli conflict while simultaneously focusing on practical skills derived from the decades-long experience of Givat Haviva’s shared society model. The course will examine programs promoting mutual responsibility, civic equality and cooperation between divided groups in Israel as the foundation for building a shared future and shared society. The goal is to examine practical models, conflict approaches, and evaluations made for peace education programs and understand how to make an impact based on academic research and practice. The course strives to educate and build awareness of the various narratives, challenges, and obstacles and advocates for an inclusive and equal society.

Drones and Asymmetric Warfare
Section Info:
This course explores strategic and moral issues associated with unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as drones. Robotic aircraft already play a important role in 21st century warfare, counter-terrorism, and intelligence operations, and will become increasingly prominent as the technology advances. Over 80 countries utilize drones in some manner, indicating the appeal of unmanned aircraft. Additionally, the commercial drone industry is expected to rapidly expand in the coming years, creating additional security and privacy questions.
