Section Info:
The Autobiographical Space. Forms, transformations, problems. We'll read selections from Montaigne's Essais, from 17th- and 18th-century aristocratic memoirs, from Rousseau's Rêveries and from writers from the Romantic period such as Stendhal and Constant. We'll also read several texts from the 20th and 21st century, including autobiographical works by Sartre (Les Mots), Duras (La Vie matérielle), Ernaux (La Place), Louis (Pour en finir…), Calle (Prenez soin de vous) as well as selections from Satrapi's (Persépolis) and Sattouf's (L'Arabe du futur) graphic memoirs. Readings in French. Discussions in French or English.
