Historically Black Colleges
Section Info:
Title: Historically Black Colleges Universities- Minority Serving Institutions. In this course, students will explore important nuances pertaining to the history, nature, character, and challenge of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSI). There will also be an emphasis on the historical and contemporary discourses surrounding HBCUs in this course, as well as discussions about other MSIs such as Tribal Colleges, Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs). Their complex historical and contemporary placements in higher education realms and these institutions' abilities to ensure the success of racial/ethnic minorities within higher education, economic contributions, organizational culture and practices, and funding conversations will be grappled with extensively.

Section Info:
ONL Student Section. Taking a pluralistic approach to the complex nature of a social world, this course is intended to introduce students to different mixed methods research approaches, consider the epistemological and paradigmatic implications of mixed-methods designs, and help students critique, design, and conduct mixed methods research within educational and other social scientific research. Rather than focusing on ways to mix methods, this course will extend to the entire inquiry process.
