Dance II: Adv. Ballet
Section Info:
This advanced level course will build upon beginning ballet fundamentals like ballet terminology and definitions and continue by refining these and adding more. Some knowledge of ballet terminology and movement is required. Overall, we will focus on ballet being a movement technique to train the body and mind. This is a classical ballet class and we will learn classical barre ballet exercises that transition to center work. There is partnering and touch in this course, but this can be modified to any individual needs. We will engage with topics outside of ballet technique such as ballet/classroom etiquette and the historical context of a Eurocentric art form used in American Dance and culture. When discussing the historical context of ballet, we will engage with it physically. Concurrent DANC 316 registration permitted, contact dance@illinois.edu with your UIN to request an override.
