Slay Them With a Sentence
Section Info:
FA24 CW 463 - Advanced Topics in Creative Writing - Amy Hassinger - Slay Them With a Sentence - Have you heard the one about the aspiring writer who asks the established one whether or not she might someday become a writer herself? “Well, that all depends,” the established writer replies, “Do you like sentences?” In this course, we will not only like sentences, we will revel in them. Moving from the most basic forms to complex architectural constructions, we’ll examine structure and syntax, rhythm and music in sentences built by writers of both poetry and prose. We’ll experiment with writing our own dazzling and deathless sentences, one at a time and in illuminating sequence. Writers of all genres welcome. Pre-requisites: a beginning CW class (CW 100, CW 104 or CW 106) or permission of the instructor
