Credit Hours: 1-2 Title: From Code to Crop: Digital Innovations and Synthetic Biology for Programmable Plants This upper-division/graduate seminar course centered around the guest lectures by faculty members from NSF Science and Technology Center CROPPS- Center for Research on Programmable Plants. It delves into the cutting-edge field of programmable plants, focusing on integrating digital innovations in agricultural sciences and synthetic biology to address major global challenges. Over eight intensive weeks in the second half of the Fall semester, students will explore the dynamic intersection of plant science, cyber technologies, and synthetic biology for developing programmable plants, gaining hands-on experience and theoretical insights from leading experts in the field with active research programs. The lectures will be broadcast across campuses and followed by in-classroom discussions and/or activities related to that week’s lecture each week.
