Meets with ARTS 457: Art in Context [THINGS]. A grad/undergrad studio/seminar course that focuses on the dynamic relationship between artworks and their context with particular attention to their thingness—the artwork as a gathering of forces and intentions (ideas + materials + labor) organized into specific sites (time + space). Through selected readings, film screenings, field trips, studio projects and critiques, this course is designed to support artists/designers who are interested in the critical, spatial, and social practice of making things.
