This course will meet June 12-16 only. Instruction will begin on Sunday at 1:30 pm and will end by 5:00 pm on Thursday. The course offering is 1-4 variable credit hours. Join other choral educator-conductors in a five-day workshop led by Dr. Andrea Solya, Choral Conductor and Professor in the University of Illinois School of Music. As a symposium participant, you will experience daily lecture-demonstrations, podium time, and personal consultation with Dr. Solya. Examines theory and practice of musical creativity within instrumental music education in P-12 settings. Experiences will include developing creativity-focused rehearsal techniques, assessments, activities, and curricula within instrumental music contexts. Emphasis will be placed on constructivist approaches to large instrumental ensemble instruction.

Fairbanks, S	Part of Term: S2B Date Range: 07/10/23-08/03/23 Credit: 4 hours Section Title: Supervised Research Experience Section Info: Topic: "SUPERVISED RESEARCH EXPERIENCE." This course makes particular use of the unique library collections and archives at the University of Cambridge to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to pursue a research or performance project of their choosing. Students will be guided in selecting a topic, identifying primary and secondary materials, outlining an argument, and constructing a scholarly paper. Supervision will be provided jointly by the faculty director of the Cambridge Summer Music Residency and a Cambridge-based scholar. This course culminates with participation in the Cambridge Summer Residency taking place July 8- August 5, 2023. Restriction(s): Restricted to Graduate - Urbana-Champaign.
