Section Title:
Adv Latent Variable Modeling
Section Info:
We consider the use of latent variables for multivariate statistical models for continuous and discrete data as found in educational, psychological, social, behavioral, and health research. We explore Bayesian computational approaches for inferring model parameters and review recent work in areas such as factor analysis, mixture modeling, data augmentation, and hidden Markov models. We also discuss issues related to statistical computing via R and Rcpp. Prerequisite: STAT 410 and knowledge of R. Section Title:
Modern Statistical Inference
Section Info:
This course focuses on the foundation and some recent advancements of high-dimensional statistics. The course will cover basic and advanced probability tools such as concentration inequalities, uniform laws of large numbers and high-dimensional central limit theorem, as well as their applications in non-asymptotic analysis of some high-dimensional models. A selection of modern topics, such as high-dimensional sampling, variational inference and optimal transport, will also be explored. Prerequisites: STAT 553 (or MATH 561), and STAT 511 (or STAT 510). Prior knowledge of optimization will also be very helpful. For Statistics course registration information: go.illinois.edu/StatisticsRegistration.
Restriction(s):
Restricted to Graduate - Urbana-Champaign.
