Credit: 2 hours.
Provides in-depth understanding of educational needs for children with hearing loss, addressing the education process from birth through late adolescence. The course will include knowledge of educational options, classroom acoustics, auditory processes, amplification options, individualized education program (IEP) meetings, and classroom management. The course will focus on the collaboration and communication methodologies between educators, audiologists, speech-language pathologists and caregivers to determine the best educational placements and curriculum for a child with hearing loss.
2 graduate hours. No professional credit. Prerequisite: Restricted to graduate students.
