Sport and Documentary
Section Info:
This course introduces students to the sport documentary genre and considers the technological and cultural impacts of this particular film style. Through weekly in-class screenings, discussions, and readings, students will examine a wide variety of documentaries, ranging from early depictions of the Olympic Games to ESPN’s 30 for 30 series and beyond. In studying both form and content, we will cover fundamental documentary planning and creation processes as well as the history of sport on film. Please note: this is NOT a hands-on production course.
