This Chemical Ecology course will explore the role of volatile and non-volatile chemical compounds in mediating interactions between insects, plants, and microbes. Through a mixture of weekly reading, discussion of recent literature, and guest lectures, this class will examine the diversity of chemical-mediated interactions, structure and functions of chemical compounds, volatile organic compounds major categories, and recent advances in methods and analytical tools used to collect and identify novel chemical compounds.
