Historical, social, economic, contextual (neighborhood), and subcultural factors that influence the organization and dynamics of ethnic-racial family life in the United States: family and group immigration and migration histories, acculturation, identity development, family organization, gender roles, parent-child relations, family rituals, neighborhood influences on family life and child-adolescent development, and the relationship between social class and ethnicity-race.
