Seminar covering the foundations of strategy content and formulation research. Topics include: Economic Theories in Strategic Management (including strategic management applications of industrial organization economics); and Economic Approaches to Strategic Management Research (including transaction costs, resource-based and property rights research).

May be repeated in the same or separate terms to a maximum of 4 hours. Students may take multiple topics under the course designation, but can only take each topic once for credit towards degree requirements. Prerequisite: Ph.D. standing in BADM or consent of instructor.

This course will meet in 3015/3017 BIF. Entrepreneurship and innovation are important drivers of economic and social progress. In this course we will examine the individual, organizational, and institutional precursors and consequences of entrepreneurship and innovation. Relevant patterns in both developed and emerging economies will be explored. We will read broadly, drawing on foundational works, as well as more recent work. In addition, course participants will gain experience designing potential studies and practice hand collecting primary and secondary source data. This course is part of a two course sequence (Entrepreneurship & Innovation I and II)
