Provides students with professional career exploration experiences that involve developing networking knowledge and skills while engaging with recreation, sport, and tourism industry alumni and professionals in their offices, agencies, and facilities. Students are exposed to best practices and current challenges in the industry, and are given opportunities to make connections for internships, mentorship, and career advancement.

Additional fees may apply. See Class Schedule. Approved for S/U grading only. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum 3 hours.

Exploring Indianapolis: This course provides career and RST industry exploration. Students will develop networking skills, while engaging with RST industry alumni and professionals in their offices, agencies, and facilities. Best practices and current issues will be explored. Students will have the potential to make connections for future internships and career advancement. Potential site visits and networking opportunities could include Indianapolis Colts (NFL), Indiana Pacers (NBA), Indianapolis Indians (AAA Baseball), Indiana Fever (WNBA), Indy Eleven (professional soccer), Indy Fuel (minor league hockey), Butler University Athletics, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Grand Park Sports Campus. Exact dates of the two-day trip are TBD. Course includes a $160 fee, to cover hotel and transportation. In addition, there will be three one-hour class times scheduled with the trip.
