Health assessment is an organized comprehensive evaluation of the human body system which involves professional skills to collect both subjective and objective health data for detecting one’s health problems and/or healthcare needs. The health assessment includes health promotion for all age groups, cultural assessment, social determinants for health, mental status, nutritional status, health history, physical examination, and so on. Specially, practicing drawing blood from a vein under the guidance of licensed health professionals and understanding lab test results are included in this course. At the end of this course, students are expected to infer one’s health problems and/or healthcare needs based on evidence derived from the interview/survey/measurement, basic physical examination, and clinical laboratory tests.
