Section Info:
FA22, ENGL 477 Jamie L. Jones Scale is one of the main challenges of environmental writing in the twenty-first century: how do we write about planetary issues like climate change, mass extinction, sea-level rise, and environmental injustice without overwhelming our audiences (and ourselves)? Our class will approach these problems by writing about environmental issues at local, regional, national, and global scales. Students will produce writing across a range of genres, including newspaper reports, op-eds, and longform narrative, while practicing professional skills like interviewing, historical research, and pitch letters.
