The Korean War: A Local and Global History This course is offered online via BTAA CourseShare (Prof. Alyssa Park at University of Iowa) and will be taught synchronously via zoom. This course examines the Korean War as a local, regional, and global event. It covers major topics of the war, including its origins, methods of warfare, refugee question, war crimes, POWs, propaganda, memory, and commemoration from the perspective of multiple nations. As a discussion-based class, students will analyze scholarly works, textbooks, diplomatic documents, memoirs, fiction, visual sources, and film. No prior knowledge required.
