This course serves as an introduction to data-driven and machine learning techniques in chemistry and chemical engineering. Surveyed topics will include standard regression and classification algorithms, neural network architectures, unsupervised learning, clustering, molecular featurization techniques and best practices for machine learning. The course serves as a practical introduction to these techniques in Python using existing chemical datasets. 3 undergraduate hours. 3 graduate hours. Approved for letter and S/U grading. Prerequisites: Junior or senior standing in physical sciences or engineering, and MATH 225 or MATH 415. Basic programming experience is strongly recommended.

An 8 week course to guide students through the process of teaching and serving as a peer mentor for CHEM 150. Students will be expected to meet once weekly for at least 50 minutes and participate in discussions about lesson plans, course activities, and grading. Assignments include weekly reflections and lesson plans. To register you must be a chemistry major with a junior or senior standing and also obtain the instructor's permission.
