Mathematical foundations of deep learning and design of deep learning algorithms for practical applications. Topics include linear, logistic regression, backpropagation, stochastic gradient descent, forward neural networks, recurrent neutral networks, reinforcement learning, etc. Examples will be drawn from real datasets in financial and insurance applications. Prerequisite: ASRM 401 or STAT 400 or MATH 461

Financial and Insurance Tech
Section Info:
The course will provide an introduction to the foundation and industry trends of financial and insurance technology. It offers an overview of the FinTech and InsurTech ecosystems, various innovations in digital banking, trading and insurance. The course provides elementary reviews of technical foundations, such as "big data", textual analysis, blockchain, cryptocurrencies and disruptive business models. If time permits, regulatory challenges in FinTech and InsurTech shall be also discussed.
