Fundamentals of various aspects of plasma chemistry, including rate expressions, rate mechanisms, and kinetic parameters of homogenous chemical processes in the gas-phase of a plasma and heterogeneous chemical processes at the interface of plasmas and surfaces (both solid and liquid). Applications of plasma chemistry to gas conversion, surface cleaning and treatment, reactive ion etching, chemical vapor deposition, and water treatment. Reactors and interrelation of reaction kinetics and mass transfer. Prerequisite: NPRE 421 or instructor approval.
