We are migrants. We move from one place to another. We are living in the age of images. In this course, indicated by the destabilized identity of the image-maker in this globalized world, students will be asked to create a term-long project considering the migration of image as well as migration of identity. We also concern the trajectory and the site of contemporary image production by investigating the relationship between photography and other disciplines. Assignments/experiments of collage, installation art, and computer generated image will be introduced with discussions of conceptual and theoretical frameworks by artists and thinkers including Hito Steyerl, Trevor Paglen, Nicholas Mirzoeff, Jacolby Satterwhite, Lisa Lowe, Sara Ahmed, Helen Westgees, Hague Yang, Shawn Michelle Smith, Byung-Chul Han, Laila Lalami and so on.
