Compensation theory and practice. Course addresses the theoretical and practical issues associated with the design of effective compensation systems. The design phases include establishing internal equity, external equity, and individual equity. Budgeting and administration are also addressed. Case analyses and computer simulations may be used to supplement course materials.

This course addresses the theoretical and practical issues associated with the design of effective compensation systems and how these are applied to an ever-changing employment landscape. Contextual factors such as equity, market practices, organizational strategy, budgeting, and administration are also addressed. Synchronous Collaborative sessions: Thursdays, 6:00-8:00 pm central time. First class session will be on Wednesday October 12 (please contact Professor for details), Thursday, October 20, 27, November 3, 10, 17, December 1 and Wednesday, December 7. Please note the final session is also on a Wednesday, due to university mandatory Reading Day. This course is part of a self-supporting program and DOES NOT accept the following tuition and fee waivers (TFWs): Cooperation Teachers waivers, Non-Academic waivers (including UIUC employees and employees of other state institutions), Academic waivers from UIUC, UIC, and UIS employees, Related Agency waivers, Field Supervisor waivers, waivers granted through fellowships/assistantships as governed by the Graduate College at UIUC, or Retiree waivers. This program DOES accept statutory waivers (veterans grants, etc.)
