'Geopolitics and Engineering'<br> This course explores relations between modern machinery and governance in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It will focus on the impacts that steam- and electrical-powered machines had in governances in different global north and south settings. The seminar draws from a diverse range of literature written by engineers, geographers, historians, political economists, and political theorists. Its aim is to provide historical context for understanding contemporary relations between machines and society.
