Section Info:
Topic: Understanding Disability and Assistive Technology. The purpose of this course is to help students understand the experience of disability related to using information technologies. The course will include an overview of disability demographics, common disabilities and their im-pact on consuming electronic information, the use of common assistive technologies, and the legal landscape of IT accessibility. Students will learn about typical operating system accessibility features, including Windows, OS X, iOS and Android mobile operating systems. The course will end with students learning how to perform a function-al accessibility evaluation of web sites and standalone applications.

Topic: Entrepreneurship for Veterans and Military-Connected Members Description: The purpose of this course is to introduce veterans and members of the military community to opportunities for entrepreneurship and the steps between having a business idea and launching the business. Students will gain exposure to topics such as how to define one’s business idea, write a business plan, assess the prospective customer audience, identify potential partners, market the idea, seek venture capital and raise start-up funds, secure governmental funding available to veterans, and evaluate operations for sustainability. The learning experience will include lectures and stories from successful entrepreneurs about the challenges they faced in starting and maintaining their business.
