Startup City Scholars (CNVC)
Section Info:
Through the Startup City Scholar track, students spend a semester as a Grainger Engineering City Scholar and also participate in the prestigious College New Venture Challenge (CNVC) hosted by the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Chicago. Applicants may be eligible for a $5,000 scholarship to spend the semester working on a student-led venture. UIUC lead teams must include a University of Chicago student on their team. Accepted teams are eligible to win prizes in the form of SAFE funds from a pool of up to $100,000. Meet Chicago’s tech leaders and investors who can help launch your company. This course will be delivered via Compass 2g.

Section Title:
Hip Hop Entrepreneurship
Section Info:
This course integrates use of the “Hip Hop Xpress”, a converted bus that serves as a mobile innovation lab to connect students with those working with young people in marginalized High Hope communities around the state and beyond. Students will get an opportunity to develop electrical engineering projects such as circuit building through Bluetooth Boom Box speaker builds, or projects that focus on improving device usage of various bio-engineering technology, particularly around chronic diseases. They will also develop canvas modeling to reflect project development strategies within the context of a lean startup venture. Students will develop and test their projects on the Hip Hop Xpress.” Course will be delivered via Schoology. Lab will take place in ISR 089.
