Pre-requisite: IS 510 Libraries, Information & Society. This course explores the interconnectedness of information, people, and technologies in crises (e.g. pandemics) and natural disasters (e.g. hurricanes, earthquakes) and the intersecting trajectories of social, technical and information perspectives in such events. The course equips students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to be key players in crisis preparedness and response. It examines the multiple roles that information professionals play in crisis preparedness and response. Students reflect on lessons learned from past crises/disasters and on strategies to manage future crises/disasters.
