Capital Funding for Growth Companies will provide students an understanding of the current capital market landscape, funding process and trends. This class will examine the range of middle-market companies’ capital requirements and objectives in relation to the available private equity and debt financing. Through specific examples, students will identify the appetites and expertise of middle-market investment banks and the skills and access to capital they provide their clients. Section Info:
Application of Derivative Strategies is designed to build upon the basic options knowledge you will have gained in FIN 412. We will start slowly by discussing some simple trading strategies that are used by institutional and retail accounts alike. We will move from there to discuss volatility trading looking not only at the CBOE VIX product but also at OTC variance swaps. Finally, by the end of the semester, we will be discussing the most topical options and derivatives structures such as risk parity, risk premia capture, alternative risk premia and volatility targeting. Prerequisite course: FIN 412. This section meets in-person and will have distributed attendance. You will receive an email from your instructor with specific attendance instructions.

Advanced Topics in Wealth Mgt
Section Info:
Advanced Topics in Wealth Management explores advanced topics and ‘best practices’ in the proper administration of wealth. It considers issues and opportunities presented to individuals as they approach ‘high net worth’ status. In addition to strategic use of life insurance, we’ll discuss the transfer tax system as a driver of strategic wealth planning. Budding entrepreneurs will find our work with business succession planning and legacy planning to be invaluable. Asset protection and charitable planning are other key topics addressed. Through a combination of lecture, active classroom discussion, and group exercises, we will focus on the practical application of these concepts and consider what it means to create and sustain generational wealth.
