This section of FAA 110 will focus on disability, Crip theory, and the arts, and will critically examine issues of access, embodiment, and representation in art, film, and the performing arts via Zoom. Whereas cultural producers and the institutions that support and disseminate their work shape our cultural understanding of disability, this course will interrogate and question how disability is constructed through a combination of theoretical, practical, and historical modalities. Through a series of regular viewing/reading discussions, students will develop a personalized critical and aesthetic vernacular through which to engage contemporary Disability/Crip discourses.
