The course includes exploration of topics related to civic engagement, racial and ethnic identity development, stereotype threat and performance, structural oppression, inequalities in schooling, and the impact of racial and ethnic disparities in STEM education. Students must commit to 12 hours of field experiences, half of which will take place in Chicago on Saturdays (transportation to/from Chicago will be provided).
