This course provides an introduction to some highlights of the social, intellectual, and cultural history of ancient Greece, from its origins in the Bronze Age through the end of the 5th century BCE. Subjects to be covered include Greek prehistory; Homer’s Iliad; Greek sport; Athenian drama; the Persian and Peloponnesian Wars; and the social, political, and intellectual developments in Athens bracketed by these two conflicts. Students are required to log in and use Moodle to complete this course.
