Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.
This course will critically examine the social, pedagogical, cognitive, and political impact of implementing technology in educational contexts. We will survey various perspectives critical of educational technology in an effort to clarify its actual and potential value. The course will review papers and other works skeptical of educational technology as a whole, as well as research questioning specific initiatives such as mass distribution of computers in schools, data analytics, MOOCs, intelligent tutors, virtual reality, etc.
3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Undergraduate Students in the DELTA LES concentration should first take CI 210 Introduction to Educational Technology.
