Animal Welfare Principles
Section Info:
This course explores the fundamental principles of animal welfare and their applications using a systems thinking approach. Students will explore and evaluate quality of life as it relates to animal housing and husbandry practices for captive animals, primarily focused on agricultural production livestock and poultry. Wildlife and intersections with human welfare will also be addressed. Students will identify factors impacting welfare, apply the three pillars of welfare in evaluation, develop welfare interventions, and explore the advancement of welfare science.
