Examines relationship of the administrative, civil, and criminal justice systems to educational and mental health institutions; individual rights, social issues, and psychological well being.

3 undergraduate hours. 2 to 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Six hours of social science.

PSYC Juniors (60 hrs earned) registration begins on April 28th. All restrictions lifted on May 3rd. This section meets with LAW 792. Examines the interaction of social psychology and law. Topics include behavioral realism, dual process models of cognition, employment discrimination and discriminatory intent, affirmative action and diversity, liability and hindsight bias, tort damages and anchoring, rape victim blaming, race and police conduct, eyewitness identification and memory, false confessions, race and jury selection, and race and jury decision-making. Elective course for Cognitive, Diversity, Intradisciplinary, Personality, or Social Psychology Concentration Restriction(s): Restricted to Undergrad - Urbana-Champaign.
